Job Description


We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Clerical Union Undergrad

Clerical interns will assist the Next Generation Systems \(NGS\) administrative staff and management team in support of numerous projects\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist with recruiting, hiring and staffing activities
+ Assist with scheduling and coordination of activities that support large software engineering programs
+ Assist with acquisition and tracking of computing support hardware and resources


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 2\.5/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will be represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union \(OPEIU\), which requires monthly membership dues or agency fees\. New hires into an OPEIU represented position will remain in the initial position for twelve \(12\) months before being eligible to be considered for other Sandia employment\.

Additional Requirements:

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy \(DOE\) Security Clearance
+ High levels of written and oral communication skills
+ Basic levels of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite \(Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, etc\) or similar familiarity with tools such as Google Docs
+ Good entry level work skills such as reliability, critical thinking, and organization


+ Excellent oral/written communication skills as demonstrated by coursework or special projects \(academic or extra\-curricular\)
+ Participation in hands\-on research through science fair, volunteer internships, or other activities that demonstrate planning, self\-motivation, organizational skills, etc\.

The Emergent Systems and Analysis department specializes in the exploration, development, and analysis of emergent and disruptive technologies in computer science to solve complex problems\. We bring to bear diverse expertise in mission analysis, software engineering, web services, big data management and visualization, image processing, machine learning, and modeling and simulation, which are applied to a myriad of sensor data processing challenges across the laboratory\. Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment\.
