Job Description


We are in need of a technologist to carry out password administration functions supporting California site customers\.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work well with multiple staff, managers, and other computer support groups in a high stress environment as a critical part of the password administration team\. This individual must have a proven ability to manage multiple and changing responsibilities to meet the dynamic nature of the position\. This position will require interaction on a regular basis as part of a team with members within IT service groups in both California and New Mexico locations\. This position requires a proven ability to organize a complex schedule and coordinate with corporate resources as needed\.

Primary Responsibilities and Abilities:

+ Supports a wide range of customers by: processing both classified and unclassified passwords, assigning of and re\-initializating Crypto cards, SecurID cards, and Gemalto tokens, processing classified and unclassified Entrust keys, credentialing and deploying Public Key Infrastructure \(PKI\) tokens, issuing and resetting PIV\-C Cards
+ Acts as project participant on select information systems projects such as the deployment of PKI across various networks\.
+ Assesses business processes and recommends improvements to improve service delivery\.
+ Interfaces with customers face\-to\-face on a daily basis\.
+ Installs, tests, administers and documents distributed computing systems, including operating, systems, shared components, commercial off\-the\-shelf, application interoperability validation, and system security configuration management\.
+ Contribute to other areas of the department in times of need as specified by the department manager\.


+ Associate’s degree in information systems, computer science, or business administration or 2 years of working experience as a desktop support technician and/or system administrator for Windows environments
+ Must be able to walk up to a minimum of one mile per day in support of mission customers\.
+ Applicant must have DOE Q or equivalent to start\.


+ Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or business administration
+ Computer support experience at Sandia National Laboratories\.
+ Basic understanding of network technologies and concepts
+ Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with other IT professionals outside of the work center\.
+ IT service management tool experience \(e\.g\. Remedy ticketing system, incident management, change management, etc\.\)\.
+ Experience with SNL escorting requirements and ability to manage work while escorting\.
+ SNL site IT infrastructure experience to include SRN/SCN/SPN networking environments\.
+ Ability to understand the application and utilization of software packages\.
+ Ability to define system requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms\.

Department Description:

The Information Systems & Services Department provides enterprise level computing capabilities for Sandia/California\. Services provided by the department include \(1\) unclassified and classified desktop including Windows, Mac, Unix, and Linux; \(2\) mobile computing; \(3\) Laptops of Foreign Travel; \(4\) password administration; and \(5\) IT support tailored to mission line organization specific needs including Engineering Applications Management, Cyber Security Representatives, and Applied Mechanics LAN\.
