Job Description


We are seeking a R&D S&E Systems Engineering professional to work in our Special Programs department \(8771\)\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop and deliver products and services for government organizations supporting operational capabilities\.
+ Generate options, requirements, cost estimates, schedules and project plans taking a customer idea to a complete and operational capability\.
+ Work closely with information technology staff, software developers and other technical disciplines to guide the development and meet project requirements\.
+ Team with other project groups to develop processes and capabilities which create efficiencies and guide future projects\.
+ Apply system engineering principles to direct development and achieve a successful project while working in a collaborative environment\.


+ Bachelor's and Master's in a STEM discipline; or a Bachelor's degree in STEM with at least four years' relevant experience\.
+ Possess expertise in one or more of the following areas in the: performing project management, developing requirements and concepts of operation, performing trade studies, generating technical documentation, leading system design activities, developing and testing prototype systems, overseeing operational activities, qualifying systems, assessing system reliability and performance, operationally fielding and supporting capabilities, and system testing\.
+ Active DOE Q clearance to start with the ability to obtain SCI\.


Advanced degree in engineering or related field; strong written and verbal communication skills, including development and delivery of presentations and scientific/engineering documentation; experience working with US intelligence organizations, organizational and critical thinking skills; project management skills; strong interpersonal skills, including effective leadership, delegation, teamwork, negotiation, conflict resolution, and coaching/mentoring skills\.

Department Description:

The Special Programs Department I \(8771\) is responsible for developing high\-impact and high\-consequence national security projects supporting a broad range of US government customers\.

Projects revolve around CONOPS creation and development of custom software and IT architectures\.

While IT architectures and software development are core capabilities, projects span multiple disciplines and have durations ranging from days to years\.

Special Programs success comes from the team’s ability to create innovative and end\-to\-end capabilities supporting the most demanding requirements\. The team works closely with our customers to understand their mission and develop solutions based on the customers’ specific needs\.
