Job Description

:

The Space & Flight Systems Department is seeking an engineer to design hardware and software for embedded satellite systems, embedded flight systems, and embedded ground systems\. These systems contain various electronic devices, including Field Programmable Gate Arrays \(FPGAs\) using VHDL\. There are additional opportunities for non\-embedded hardware systems as well\. Circuit board layout and testing is also required\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Work with a team of hardware engineers and meet with internal customers and design team, including software engineers, to develop embedded systems to meet customer requirements\.
+ Design electronic embedded systems using the latest technology to meet system requirements\.
+ Design and build test fixtures to test embedded systems\.

Required:

99. Requires a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering plus four years related experience\.
99. Skills in hardware electronics design, PCB board design, and test fixture design\.
99. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Desired:

99. Skills in programming languages C and C\+\+, and VHDL and LabView\.
99. Current and active DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Organization 5336, The Space and Flight Systems department provides hardware and software development for embedded satellite systems, embedded flight systems, and embedded ground systems\. These systems range from localized controller applications to high\-end node based computers serving as the heart of a satellite payload\. Because of the high cost of payload launch, the design focus is on ultra\-reliability, small size, and real time response\. Department 5336 consists of staff from the disciplines of electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and electronics technology\. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
