Job Description

:

We are seeking a Security Incident Investigator to conduct inquiries into all reports of incidents of potential security concern, as defined by U\.S\. Department of Energy \(DOE\) directives\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Interview members of the workforce and other involved parties and collects relevant information, including computer forensic evidence\.
+ Maintain current knowledge of security procedures, equipment standards, and technology, encompassing multiple security disciplines\.
+ Act as a complex wide contact for security event issues\.
+ Develop and implement programs and tools to increase employee awareness and knowledge of security policies, processes, and tools\.
+ Conduct inquiries to determine facts and circumstances related to incidents of potential security concern\.
+ Perform activities that mitigate and contain situations\.
+ Work with all levels of management and members of the workforce on inquiries, causal analysis, resolution issues, and awareness activities\.
+ Manage reporting of incidents of security concern through comprehensive written reports and makes security infraction determinations\.
+ Interpret requirements for Department of Energy \(DOE\), Sandia National Laboratories' \(SNL\) corporate policy, and other security environments\. Provides expertise and guidance to SNL's executive management, program management, and to multiple government entities\.

This position requires the ability to be on\-call on off duty hours and required to respond to events immediately, while exercising their authority to execute security policies and requirements\.

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus entry level experience \(up to two years\); or master's degree in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

Desired:

+ Experience with immediate response to events in high stressed situations that require strong critical thinking skills\.
+ Experience with a major law enforcement, intelligence, public, or private\-sector security organization to interview, investigate, and identify noncompliance with security requirements\.
+ Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternatives, and recommending solutions to problems affecting security\.
+ Knowledge of and experience with one or more major security area, such as classified matter protection and control, classification, information security, incident management, personnel security, facility clearances, physical security, program security, or computer security that applies to complex wide level activities
+ Knowledge of corporate security policies, practices, and procedures\.
+ Experience properly handling, protecting, and controlling classified matter, and knowledge of widely varying classified matter policies and procedures\.
+ Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities\.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities by assessing significance and prioritize events based on the risk\.
+ Excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve complex problems and make recommendations\.
+ Ability to obtain a high security clearance and/or weapon data access\.
+ Conflict resolution skills\.
+ Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of security to both technical and non\-technical personnel\.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to accurately articulate details and facts\.
+ Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills\.

Department Description:

Sandia's Security Incident Management Program \(SIMP\) conducts official inquiries into allegations of security incidents as defined by DOE\. Results of completed inquiries establish facts, culpability, and circumstances related to security incidents and concerns\. SIMP implements containment and/or mitigation actions as necessary to protect national security interests\. SIMP compiles data related to incidents of security concern and provides reports to internal and external customers

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.
