Job Description

:

+ Strong ability to lead, partner and engage on a working level with finance management, the tax team, pension team, legal team, government relations, parent company tax members, state tax authorities, IT, finance and accounting personnel, line business management and project management personnel
+ Strong Excel skills required to analyze and manipulate large, complex data sets
+ Strong analysis skills to critically think through complex systems, identify interconnections and implement mitigation strategies skills to correct and prevent errors Ability to clearly articulate and explain in simple terms, complex issues
+ Ability to lead the annual New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax review process to assure the highest degree of accuracy
+ Ability to understand reporting and programming concepts to partner with IT/programmers on complex tax reports, particularly New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax
+ Knowledge of or ability to obtain and apply knowledge on multiple state sales/use, excise, property tax laws, and benefit plan filings
+ Knowledge of or ability to obtain and apply knowledge of Parent company state and federal income tax questions and issues
+ Knowledge of moderately complex accounting and financial analysis, benefits accounting, tax accounting, financial accounting, and cost accounting
+ Experience interpreting and applying tax code, generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting standards, and financial policies and procedures
+ Knowledge of governmental financial accounting, particularly as it relates to institutional operations, and federal, state and local laws governing accounting procedures and systems
+ Knowledge and experience translating strategies into specific objectives and action plans, aligning processes and systems to support strategic priorities and obtaining and allocating resources to meeting objectives and deliverables
+ Knowledge and experience identifying performance deficiencies at the organizational level and developing strategies to improve the organization’s functional responsibility
+ Knowledge of quality concepts, lean six sigma, and project management Experience making decisions, including interpreting program concepts or business principles and existing precedents, standards, policies and procedures
+ Understanding of the meaning and implications of financial indicators, and experience managing overall financial performance and using financial analysis to evaluate strategic options and opportunities\.
+ Experience and technical judgment in determining cost\-effective methods to meet the organization’s or program’s mission\.
+ Experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as Oracle and related relational databases\.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effective present detailed and complex information in a clear and coherent manner\.

Required:

+ Master’s Degree in Accounting, Financial or Business\-related field or Bachelor’s degree plus equivalent work experience\.
+ Demonstrated three years of successful management or five years of team lead experience\.

Desired:

+ CPA
+ Experience with New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax and other tax filings\.

Group 10510 provides support to Sandia employees for financial transactions, payments to employees and vendors, financial analysis and strategic decision support to executive management, and financial assurance information to both internal and external entities\.
