Job Description


The Advanced RF Systems group is seeking a team\-oriented manager to lead and coordinate systems research and development within the key areas of RF & Spectral Dominance and Global Special Communications\. The Special Radars and Communications department focuses on the design, development, deployment, and support of specialized RF systems for a variety of DOD and government agencies\. An area of expertise is the development of miniature RF devices for long range situational awareness\. 5335 management and personnel directly interact with end user/operators to gain unique perspectives of CONOPS and TTPs that directly enable requirements generation to incorporate critical concepts into our next generation solutions\.

The manager will be responsible for hiring, managing, and supporting the career development of a technically diverse workforce\. On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Steward the capabilities leveraged by the department\.
+ Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements\.
+ Ensure that customers’ needs are satisfied through the creation of trust\-based relationships\.
+ Apply organization knowledge and experience to independently judge work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations\.
+ Advise/mentor and support the development of staff members and provide guidance in self\-learning activities\.


99. Requires a bachelor's and master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline; a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years related experience may considered in lieu of an advanced degree\.
99. Eight years of relevant experience\.
99. Demonstrated leadership in managing R&D program teams\.
99. Ability to obtain and maintain a required US DOE Q security clearance\.
99. Ability to obtain and maintain US DOE SCI access, which may require a polygraph test\.


99. STEM degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant discipline plus 5 years’ relevant experience\.
99. Demonstrated experience in core electrical engineering design with experience in wireless communications, digital signal processing, and/or associated hardware
99. 5 or more years of demonstrated leadership experience\.
99. Demonstrated ability to partner for success – internally and externally with management teams, project teams, customers, and collaborators\.
99. Demonstrated ability to develop customer requirements\.
99. Demonstrated ability to create strategic and tactical roadmaps and execute against them\.
99. Experience building relationships and business with the DoD and Intelligence Community\.
99. Demonstrated track record of successful delivery to the field\.
99. Experience managing teams that support/perform remote experiments and field operations\.
99. Excellent interpersonal, communication and time\-management skills\.
99. Demonstrated ability to manage diverse security and classification requirements
99. Current or previous DOE, DOD, or SCI clearance\.

The RF & Systems Electronics Center \(Center 5300\) provides key electronics systems deliverables to a wide variety of nuclear weapons, space, intelligence and military programs across Sandia and the Nation\. The Advanced RF Systems group \(5330\) supports the Nation’s technology superiority strategies by delivering capabilities for RF & spectral dominance, global highly\-reliable communications, and novel advancements for future strength\. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
