Job Description

:

We are seeking successful Systems Engineering candidates to join a high performing technical team in the design, development, qualification, and delivery of highly specialized high\-voltage components and sub\-components for national security applications\. These components are designed to meet demanding performance specifications, offer extremely high reliability, enable integration and interface to complex host systems, and meet stringent survivability requirements in adverse environments\. The engineering staff employs scientific theory and methods, materials science, advanced circuit modeling, simulation, and design engineering, mechanical design and engineering, prototype and development assembly, technical documentation, and technical judgment to design, develop, qualify and deliver product that meet the needs of the customer\. The team also collaborates closely with 2569 for supply chain and production\. In addition to high\-voltage switches, the team also designs, develops, qualifies, and delivers electrical test modules and the team partners with 2588 to design, develop, qualify, and deliver electrical testers for various products\. Responsibilities for this position include: lead qualification evidence test activities for multiple components at various stages in the product realization process; development, execution, and documentation of test plans and associated technical documentation; coordinating required customer deliverables; manage requirements negotiation and mapping for multiple components at various stages in the product realization process; and support on\-going production including support for test data and failure analysis\. PRT members are expected to lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on achieving stable production processes, and quality improvement initiatives\.

Required:

99. Bachelor’s and advanced degree \(Master’s or PhD\) in Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline \(STEM\); a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline \(STEM\) plus four years directly related experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree\.
99. Current and active DOE L\-Level security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level clearance\.

Desired:

99. Experience with or knowledge of systems engineering processes; systems qualification/reliability, systems architecting/modeling \(functional & physical\), system integration/optimization, risk management or requirements development/management\.
99. Experience with or knowledge of component/system testing to various environments\.
99. Experience with qualification evidence for test activities for multiple components at various stages in the product realization process
99. Experience with development, execution, and documentation of test plans and associated technical documentation\.
99. Experience managing requirements negotiation and mapping for multiple components at various stages in the product realization process\.
99. Project/program management training and/or experience\.
99. Experience in application of the scientific method; gathering, analyzing and summarizing technical data for decision making purposes\.
99. Willing to work hands on in a lab environment\.
99. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a diverse team environment and collaborate with others to solve problems\.
99. Excellent communication and technical writing skills with the ability to develop and present ideas/results in oral and written form\.
99. Desire to work in a fast\-paced/schedule driven environment with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines\.
99. A self\-starter with the ability to work in concept development phases that often have ambiguous and competing requirements\.
99. Leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities, including profession associations and/or technical conferences\.
99. Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement and their application\.
99. Active DOE Q\-Level security clearance\.

Department 2581 performs design, development, qualification, and delivery of highly specialized high\-voltage components, electrical test modules, and neutron measurement devices for national security applications\. These components are designed to meet demanding performance specifications, offer extremely high reliability, enable integration and interface to complex host systems, and meet stringent survivability requirements in adverse environments\. The engineering staff employs scientific theory and methods, materials science, advanced circuit modeling, simulation, and design engineering, mechanical design and engineering, prototype and development assembly, technical documentation, and technical judgment to design, develop, qualify and deliver product that meet the needs of the customer\. The department team also collaborates closely with 2569 and KCNSC for supply chain and production and with 2588 to design, develop, qualify, and deliver electrical testers for various products\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
