Job Description

:

We are seeking successful Electrical Engineering candidates to join a high performing technical team in the design, development, qualification, and delivery of highly specialized high\-voltage components and sub\-components for national security applications\. These components are designed to meet demanding performance specifications, offer extremely high reliability, enable integration and interface to complex host systems, and meet stringent survivability requirements in adverse environments\. The engineering staff employs scientific theory and methods, materials science, advanced circuit modeling, simulation, and design engineering, mechanical design and engineering, prototype and development assembly, technical documentation, and technical judgment to design, develop, qualify and deliver product that meet the needs of the customer\. The team also collaborates closely with 2569 for supply chain and production\. In addition to high\-voltage switches, the team also designs, develops, qualifies, and delivers electrical test modules and the team partners with 2588 to design, develop, qualify, and deliver electrical testers for various products\.

Responsibilities for this position include: 1\) design, creation, and optimization of electrical circuits and devices for applications in high\-voltage vacuum switches and associated modules, 2\) understanding of requirements and design flow down to circuit and device designs and integration into ECAD drawing sets, 3\) manage product design definition \(e\.g\. drawings, specifications\) through the product life cycle \(design\-development\-delivery\), 4\) contribute to high\-voltage and electrical design and execution aspects for multiple components at multiple stages in the Product Realization process, 5\) support on\-going production including devices, modules, data, and failure analysis, and 6\) gather empirical evidence and use data mining and statistics tools to develop, document and report on component characteristics or performance\. PRT members are expected to lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on achieving stable production processes, and quality improvement initiatives\. Some minor travel required\.

Required:

+ Bachelor’s and advanced degree \(Master’s or PhD\) in electrical engineering or related science, technology, engineering or mathematics \(STEM\) discipline plus 2 years directly related electrical engineering experience
+ Current and active DOE L\-Level security clearance or above with ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level clearance

Desired:

+ Experience with analog/digital circuits, printed wiring assemblies, and or cable assemblies
+ Experience with high voltage systems
+ Experience with circuit\-analysis software and simulation tools \(e\.g\. PSpice, Micro\-Cap, ORCAD, MultiSim\)
+ Experience defining electrical testing/inspection methods and interpreting results
+ Willing to work hands\-on in a lab environment\.
+ Ability to gather empirical evidence and using data mining and statistics tools to develop, document and report on component characteristics or performance
+ Ability to plan and use design and documentation activities to develop and prove in a product to a set of customer requirements
+ Experience in application of the scientific method; gathering, analyzing and summarizing technical data for decision making purposes
+ Willing to work hands\-on in a lab environment
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a diverse team environment and collaborate with others to solve problems
+ Excellent communication and technical writing skills with the ability to develop and present ideas/results in oral and written form
+ Desire to work in a fast\-paced/schedule driven environment with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
+ A self\-starter with the ability to work in concept development phases that often have ambiguous and competing requirements
+ Leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities, including professional associations and/or technical conferences
+ Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement and their application\.
+ Active DOE Q\-Level security clearance

The engineering staff employs scientific theory and methods, materials science, advanced circuit modeling, simulation, and design engineering, mechanical design and engineering, prototype and development assembly, technical documentation, and technical judgment to design, develop, qualify and deliver product that meet the needs of the customer\. The department team also collaborates closely with 2569 and KCNSC for supply chain and production and with 2588 to design, develop, qualify, and deliver electrical testers for various products\.
