Job Description

:

We are seeking outstanding R&D Computer Science professionals to work as data\-service and user interface \(UI\) developers for real\-time, high consequence systems\. The developers will work on scrum based development teams to design, develop, test and deploy advanced software systems for satellite ground systems\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Design, implement and test Java software components to enable the data\-service and data dissemination aspects of pathfinder R&D systems\.
+ Design, implement and test data service technologies in Java using cloud data services, RESTful web services, and ZeroMQ connections between multiple application layers with messaging between layers using Google Protocol Buffers or JSON\.
+ Design, implement and test UI’s using browser\-based technologies \(JavaScript\) and test\-driven development methodologies\.
+ Participate in scrum planning meetings, daily stand\-ups, sprint and iteration demos and retrospectives\.
+ Conduct research in software development methodologies related to data dissemination and UI technologies\.
+ Identify and implement solutions to software problems with our currently fielded systems\.

Required:

+ Bachelor’s and Master's in computer science \(or related discipline\); or PhD in computer science \(or related discipline\); or equivalent combination of technical education and experience \(relevant Bachelor's plus 7 years of relevant experience\)\.
+ Experience in software design, engineering and development skills, including familiarity with modern software development practices and tools\.
+ Experience with object\-oriented software development and tools in a UNIX/Linux environment\.

Desired:

+ Experience in several of the following technologies: Java, C\+\+; Test Driven Development – Mocha; Vert\.x, RESTful web services, ZeroMQ, JSON, Docker, Kubernetes; JavaScript – ExtJS, D3\.js, Vis\.js, Cesium, Electron; Data stores – Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
+ Experience with object\-oriented software development and tools using Java and/or C\+\+ in a UNIX/Linux environment\.
+ Familiarity with Git, Maven, Artifactory, Jenkins, Docker; Amazon Cloud technologies, Open Geospatial Consortium data standards
+ Software engineering proficiency, particularly with respect to best practices and team development of high quality code\.
+ Experience with current state of the art in infrastructure automation and continuous integration and deployment techniques\.
+ Experience with Agile software development methodologies\.
+ Experience with relevant application and mission domains \(remote sensing systems, satellite systems, satellite ground systems, optical systems, command and control systems, remote asset communications and telemetry\)\.
+ Demonstrated high academic performance measured by cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3\.4 or higher for all degrees\.
+ Strong teamwork skills and effective interpersonal and communication skills\.
+ An active DOE Q and/or SCI clearance

Department 6328 is part of the Decision Support Systems \(DSS\) Business Area \(Org\. 6320\), which develops innovative unique\-in\-class tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination systems for real\-time national security missions\. Working in collaboration with the Advanced Systems Program Office \(ASPO\) in 6330, we have a robust RD&E portfolio\. This portfolio supports our design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of large networked computing systems for detecting, tracking, classifying targets of interest, and expanding into new areas or exploring new methods\.Department 6328 focuses on the exploitation and dissemination aspects of satellite ground systems and conducts research and development activities associated with the management, dissemination and mining of the large, mission critical data products, as well as user interface technologies to effectively communicate system information to system operators\.
