Job Description

:

We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Business Undergrad

This intern will be assigned to the Environment, Safety & Health \(ES&H\) Department to provide dedicated services and to augment support to programs across multiple different departments within the ES&H Center\. The intern will assist with and learn to plan, prepare, and maintain program\-specific communications plans and communications for targeted internal and external audiences including partners, sponsors, and customers, to enhance the program’s effectiveness, impact, and reputation in support of the ES&H customer\. This position will include the assistance and mentorship of a Program Communications Specialist and Functional/Matrix Managers\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist in developing program\-specific communications for internal audiences to enhance effectiveness, impact, and reputation
+ Assist in executing the Environment, Safety & Health communication plan to ensure objectives are tracked and met
+ Write, edit or rewrite communications to increase awareness of key ES&H concepts and programs as assigned
+ Contribute to the development of graphics and videos to enhance messaging and outreach initiatives
+ Coordinate the development of survey tools that will inform communications projects
+ Help with development of online tools to increase employee engagement, specifically the LiveSafe campaign
+ Research other internal and external ES&H awareness campaigns to determine best practices
+ Coordinate the review and processing of ES&H trainings and exceptions

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Skill and/or education in writing, editing, oral communications, some graphic design, and audiovisual communication
+ Skill and/or education in public speaking, communication planning and/or government relations, photojournalism, or web design

Desired:

+ Demonstrated ability to bring together complicated messaging from a variety of sources and create a clear concise communication
+ Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with peers, customers, and leaders

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
