We are seeking Mechanical Engineers to join our team\.

On any given day you could be asked to:

+ Identify and model how mechanical and/or electrical insults will challenge the safety architecture of a system
+ Support multidisciplinary teams with the development of analyses and tests that evaluate the effectiveness of safety features
+ Dig deep into designs to fully understand how they function and respond to different environments
+ Create and update defensible technical basis documents that provide evidence that design intent and requirements are met
+ Travel to collaborate with other Subject Matter Experts

Required:

+ Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in STEM discipline; or Ph\.D\. degree in STEM field
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Sigma 15 clearance, which may require polygraph testing

Department Description:

The Surety Analysis Group bridges the gap between mission, research, and engineering by providing specialized technical services such as risk analysis, engineering modeling/simulation and safety engineering\. Multiple departments within the Surety Analysis Group are seeking Engineers \(early to mid\-career\) to help us understand how mechanical and electrical insults affect complex systems\. We are seeking engineers with strong technical backgrounds who can influence and lead change for system and component design development, qualification, production, and surveillance activities\. As a core member of a product realization team, you will develop subject matter expertise in safety architecture for systems to preclude undesirable events\. You will apply your expertise using detailed analysis and testing of designs to develop the technical basis to ensure these systems are sufficiently safe when exposed to a variety of environments\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
