Job Description


We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a solid understanding of middleware administration\. The individual must be able to research solutions and draw from their own knowledge and expertise, as well as that of their team members, to design, implement, and troubleshoot all enterprise middleware services\.

On any given day, you may be called upon to:

+ Work with customers to assess business needs and requirements and document them
+ Research available and appropriate solutions that meet requirements and that holistically fit current and planned infrastructure
+ Design solutions to integrate with current and planned middleware tools
+ Troubleshoot poor application or system performance
+ Effectively use tools to trouble shoot middleware performance issues
+ Perform work with the highest quality to meet established cyber security and corporate security architecture principles
+ Participate in day to day problem resolution to meet SLAs


+ Requires bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus entry level experience \(up to two years\); or master's degree in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Linux
+ Familiar with Java or other Web capable programming languages
+ Experience with application web hosting technologies such as Apache
+ Ability to obtain a DOE Q security clearance


+ Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate, design integrations and implement new systems or processes
+ A minimum of 2 years of middleware experience – WebLogic preferred
+ Programming or scripting experience
+ Ability to handle several competing priorities
+ Strong customer service skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Demonstrated ability to work well with department team members, management, and both internal and external customers, to identify and resolve middleware\-centric issues
+ Familiarity with ticketing systems and/or working with ITSM
+ Technical knowledge of virtualization, containers and cloud technologies
+ Demonstrated ability to work as part of a larger team and independently
+ Able to take direction from senior staff
+ Communicate frequently with senior staff and project lead to discuss issues, needs, activities, progress
+ Demonstrated willingness to follow established change processes and procedures
+ Demonstrated ability to mentor internal and external staff as needed
+ Ability to travel and represent SNL during vendor Executive and Technical Briefings and conferences
+ Ability to work beyond normal business hours when needed
+ Current DOE Q security clearance

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
