Job Description

:

We are seeking a Production Planning & Control Specialist position within the Purchased Product Value Stream \(Org\. 02569\)\. Responsibilities include working with the production operation and the product development organizations to develop and execute material requirements planning activities to support new product development builds, internal production builds and external customer delivery schedules\. Using material requirements planning \(mrp\) tools and techniques the planners ensures the availability and flow of raw materials\. Responsibilities include but are not limited to monitoring planned/open orders, releasing of planned orders to procurement, establishing/managing safety stock levels, ensuring the accuracy of mrp planning parameter \(lead\-times, etc\.\), forecasting material demand, executing what\-if analysis and establishing/monitoring materials budget\. The planner monitors, communicates, and reports to management the status of raw materials; proactively identifying issues that have the potential to impact the production build plan or the product development schedules\. Works with appropriate personnel to mitigate risk and implement recovery plans as required\.

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus entry level experience \(up to two years\); or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Q\-Level clearance\.

Desired:

+ Experience working in manufacturing environment with knowledge of industry standard Manufacturing Resources Planning \(MRP\) system and related business practices\.
+ Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts, methods, and tools \(visual pull signals, flow, kanbans, standard work processes, etc\.\) and experience in the application of the tools toward continuous improvement\.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in diverse team environments\.
+ Demonstrated leadership and/or project management skills\.
+ Experience working with DOD, DOE, or other highly regulated manufacturing operation\.
+ Familiar with industry standard quality management systems \(AS9100, ISO9000\)\.
+ Certified in APICS professional certification programs \(Production and Inventory Management, Integrated Resource Management, or Supply Chain Professional\)\.
+ Evidence of high academic achievement\.

Department Description:

Purchased Product Value Stream \(Org\. 2569\) is responsible for product engineering and materials planning for nuclear weapons design, development and production activities\. We provide technical leadership in the various engineering disciplines \(mechanical, chemical, materials science & electrical\) to identify, develop, deliver, assure, and sustain a commercial supply base for weapon components, materials, sub\-assemblies and custom tooling\. Applying technical expertise to innovate and deliver solutions for nuclear weapon in the design and development phases and products in full scale production\. We anticipate and manage risk within the nuclear weapon in the design and development phases and products in full scale production\. We anticipate and manage risk within the nuclear weapons supply chain; researching alternate materials, defining and developing test/evaluation methodologies, developing design of experiments, identifying and developing supplier capabilities and leading qualification activities\. We provide materials planning expertise; utilizing industry standard materials planning processes and tools to initiate the procurement phase and monitoring the supply chain to meet product realization schedules\.
