We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- R&D Grad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist the Cognitive Sciences & Systems team conduct Human Subjects experiments
+ Collect Human Subjects Data
+ Conduct research and development in cognitive and computer sciences
+ Learn software algorithms and applications that range from mathematical constructs to detailed physiologically\-based models of perception and cognition
+ Support experienced staff with human decision modeling, computational modeling of neural and cognitive processes, cognitive software agents, social simulations, visual cognition, learning/training technologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and automated knowledge capture

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Current graduate student pursuing a psychology \(cognitive or experimental\) degree, however, other Cognitive Science disciplines will be considered
+ Experience with human subjects data collection, ideally in situations involving multiple conditions, repeated sessions, and collection of physiological data \(i\.e\. heart rate, GSR\)

Desired:

+ Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative \(CITI\) training and certification

Department Description:

The Cognitive Systems Department conducts research and development in cognitive and computer sciences\. Examples include machine learning, artificial intelligence, automated knowledge capture, learning/training technologies, human decision modeling, computational modeling of neural and cognitive processes, cognitive software agents, and social simulations\. The Department's technologies emulate and augment human cognition through a suite of software algorithms and applications that range from mathematical constructs to detailed physiologically\-based models of perception and cognition\. The department participates in the New Directions initiative within Sandia's ST&E SMU\. The department partners across Sandia \(NM and CA\) and seeks to build enduring partnerships within academia and industry\. The Department supports funded projects in multiple programs and is responsible for developing new business that cross\-cut all Sandia SMUs\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\.
