We are seeking an Intern Summer \- R&D Grad

The Sandia Science of Extreme Environments Research & Innovation \(SEERI\) Program philosophy is to foster the search for future researchers, engineers, and operators in radiation effects, pulsed power, and high energy density sciences\. SEERI works to help cultivate an environment to excite and attract talented future scientists, physicists, and engineers within in these disciplines by maximizing engaging opportunities to contribute to the nation through the unique access to facilities, resources, and broad programs found only at Sandia National Laboratories\. Students are offered hands on flexible, challenging, interesting, and cutting edge research opportunities while being mentored by Sandia National Laboratories scientists and engineers\. These hands on experiences are supplemented with technical seminars and facility tours which expose students to the broad range of engineering and scientific disciplines represented at Sandia\. Student Interns are provided the opportunity and encouraged to present their work and accomplishments to their peers and the Sandia scientific community at the end of Summer internship\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist the Component & Systems Analysis group with gathering data through testing, evaluating collected data, and archiving data
+ Do hands\-on work in test lab with simple benchtop equipment will be required
+ Participate in department activities including integrating modeling & simulation, theory, experimentation, and analysis

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Student in a physics, math, electrical engineering, or computer science curriculum
+ Basic engineering ability and computing skills
+ Candidate must be able to attain a U\.S\. Department of Energy L or Q\-Level security clearance for this position \(sole U\.S\. citizenship is required\)

Desired:

+ Experience in electrical test labs
+ Self\-starter with experience working in team environments
+ Advanced computing skills, with emphasis on Microsoft products

Department Description:

Department 1356 is a multidisciplinary research and development group supporting NNSA Defense and Work for Other \(WFO\) programs\. Our capabilities include physical and computational simulation of electrical components and systems, model extraction, and theoretical behavior of components in harsh environments\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
