Job Description


We are seeking an Intern Summer \- Business Grad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Perform analysis of Sandia’s Intellectual Property portfolio to support technology commercialization
+ Support ongoing business development activities \(e\.g\. strategic planning, engagement plans, marketing plans, customer visits, etc\.\)
+ Perform business research and analysis of markets and technologies relevant to Sandia’s program portfolios

Individual must be able to work under direction to assist intellectual property and business development staff\. Our business development staff help the technical line organizations understand and apply business concepts for the purpose of meeting Sandia’s goals for partnerships\. Our intellectual property staff work to manage Sandia’s intellectual property and enable deployment to industry, universities, and state and federal agencies\.


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
+ Experience conducting research utilizing the web
+ Excellent written communications


+ Experience with marketing and business concepts
+ Experience with data analysis, including statistical analysis

Department Description:

The Intellectual Property \(IP\) Management, Business and Competitive Intelligence \(BCI\) and Business Development Department 1182 is responsible for managing Sandia’s IP portfolio and for negotiating and consummating license agreements\. In cooperation with others in the Partnerships team, the department enables impactful partnerships to deploy Sandia's IP to industry, universities, and state and federal agencies\. The department also provides embedded business development support to Sandia's program management centers and program portfolios to enable the development of national security programs and partnerships\. We achieve this through the creation and implementation of programmatic and technology strategy, capture planning, federal government and industry engagement and other marketing efforts\. In addition, the department provides business and competitive intelligence to support leadership decision making\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment\.

If hired without a clearance, and one subsequently becomes required or you bid on positions that require a DOE\-granted security clearance, a pre\-processing background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications may be conducted prior to a required federal background investigation\.
