Job Description


We are seeking a Auditor, Financial and Business Applications\. Candidates applying on this requisition may be interviewed and/or hired into one of several organizations at Sandia National Laboratories\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Conduct audits by examining and verifying, through review or observation, accounting, statistical, operational, and procedural records and practices of internal and external organizations to determine the reliability and effectiveness of controls and risk mitigation efforts\.
+ Review audit work papers and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and logical conclusions to provide tools for effective risk mitigation through the implementation and adherence to recognized auditing standards\.
+ Examine records to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, agreements, and policies\.
+ Conduct audits and prepares reports of findings and recommendations to management and other entities\.
+ Participate in risk assessments in support of annual audit plan and specific audits\.
+ Evaluate and recommend improvements to business practices, processes, and control procedures\.

The ability to travel is necessary and normally does not exceed ten percent of time\.


+ Bachelor’s Degree in a business field\.


+ Good oral and written communication skills
+ A demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management and staff, and hands\-on experience working with business systems\.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office applications\.
+ Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision\.
+ A proven history as the member of a results oriented team is necessary\.
+ Ability to acquire and maintain professional audit expertise\.
+ A Master’s Degree in business or a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a CPA or CIA certificate\.
+ Prior experience in auditing professions
+ Familiarity with GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, Federal acquisition policy, internal controls, and process improvement

Department Description:

This posting will hire for positions open in both Internal Audit \(org\. 00853\) and Contract Audit \(org\. 00851\)\.

The Audit Organization provides assurance to SNL management and the Board of Directors by performing essential independent and objective appraisals, audits, and advisory services\. As an integral part of SNL's risk assessment and risk management strategy, our services are aligned with strategic management objectives, consistent with our company's core values and known best business practices\.

Contract Audit is responsible for the audit and settlement of auditable contracts and subcontracts that support the Laboratories' mission\. We provide Procurement and the line organizations the necessary accounting and financial services needed in the negotiation, administration, and settlement of costs for auditable contracts and subcontracts\.

Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity\. We use a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes\. We perform audits, analyses, and appraisals to provide assurance that management\-defined objectives are being met\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
