Sandia’s Technical Internships To Advance National Security \(TITANS\) intern institutes are seeking outstanding graduate students to work on vibrant, motivated teams\. Interns perform work as an entry to mid\-level member of the workforce within a science and engineering environment, engaging in R&D assignments which focus on applying computer science, computer engineering, or cybersecurity skills to solve complex challenges\. Based on your skills and experience, your role may include anything from research to software development to malware reverse engineering\.

Qualified candidates will be placed in a TITANS institute based on their education, experience, and interests\. TITANS consists of the following six institutes:

+ The Center for Analysis Systems and Applications \(CASA\) institute embeds interns with software engineering experts to develop significant mission applications, including remote sensing, data analysis, and real\-time applications
+ The Center for Cyber Defenders \(CCD\) institute is focused on developing the next generation of experts in the field of computer security from the software stack down to embedded hardware
+ The Interns for Security, Arms Control, and Force Protection Engineering \(iSAFE\) institute focuses on complex and challenging problems to lower the risk posed by high\-consequence events, such as nuclear and biological proliferation, terrorist threats, catastrophic incidents, and potentially destabilizing events
+ The Monitoring Systems and Technology Intern Center \(MSTIC\) institute is a program designed for students interested in remote sensing, space\-based systems, sensor technology, and high\-consequence systems
+ The Interdisciplinary Design, Engineering, and Assurance Students \(IDEAS\) institute is a multi\-discipline, product focused intern program that provides engineering design, components, subsystems, integration, testing, and field support for nuclear weapons and other national security applications
+ The RISE institute is targeted towards students who are interested in developing a wide range of technologies that will enhance, protect, or transform Sandia’s national security mission and IT enterprise

_Candidates applying on this requisition may be interviewed or hired into one of several organizations at Sandia National Laboratories\._

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Desired:

+ GPA of at least 3\.2 on a 4\.0 scale
+ Working knowledge and understanding of an engineering or science\-related field, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant STEM disciplines

Department Description:

Sandia’s unique student intern institutes at our technical New Mexico site provide opportunities to work on projects with Sandia scientists and engineers, including cybersecurity, computer and computational science, predictive simulation, remote\-sensing technologies, electrical and software engineering\. Technical institute interns perform leading\-edge research under the guidance of a Sandia research mentor and use world\-class, state\-of\-the\-art equipment and facilities\. Examples of intern activities include designing the programmable logic for a prototype system, contributing to a predictive\-simulation model, and working with pulsed\-power experiments\. The internship experience is supplemented with technical seminars, tours, and workshops, as well as a myriad of social activities — giving interns an excellent overview of Sandia's mission, research, and organizational culture\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
