We are seeking a Student Intern \- Lab Assistant R&D Undergraduate Year Round

We are seeking to fill a position involving general laboratory set\-up and assistance with experiments\. The successful candidate will assist lab technologists with laboratory set\-up and maintenance, as well as scientists and engineers with the acquisition, analysis, and archiving of experimental data\. Desirable skills include:

• Good hands\-on skills; familiarity with auto mechanics, plumbing, or general construction skills

• Familiarity with 3\-d CAD programs such as Solidworks

• Interest in developing programming skills \(MATLAB\); ability to learn and utilize new programs

• Completion of an algebra course and/or a geometry, or statistics course

• Completion of a laboratory course in chemistry, physical sciences, or biology/biotechnology

The student will be paired with a mentor\. This position offers substantial opportunity for training and technical growth\. The successful candidate should enjoy working in a challenging and dynamic environment requiring independent work and constant learning\.

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship
+ In addition, general computer proficiency \(MS Windows, MS Office\) is required\.

The mission of Sandia/California's Engine Combustion Research Department is to develop the science base needed by industry to build and optimize a new generation of advanced, high\-efficiency, clean internal\-combustion \(IC\) engines that use both conventional and alternative fuels\. Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.
