Job Description


The B61 Life Extension Program Systems Team is seeking Risk Management Engineers interested in focusing on risk, issue and opportunity management of this large, advanced technology, product development project\. You will be working with system and component teams to work all aspects of risks including identification, analysis, handling, monitoring and reporting\. Risk management touches all aspects of this project, enabling a broad, system level perspective\. You will work with the risk management team and our Nuclear Security Enterprise\-wide relational database to enable effective decision making at all levels of the project\. Engineering insight and the ability to determine the technical, cost and schedule impacts of risks and opportunities are essential for success\. Development and management of effective risk handling plans will be a significant responsibility of this position\. Occasional travel may be required\.


99. Bachelor’s and advanced degree \(Masters or PhD\) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering or physics field\.
99. Experience in two or more of the following areas: System engineering of large and complex systems, experience with NW weapon design and development, requirements development and mapping, system trade studies, qualification testing and analysis, environmental testing, material aging and analysis, computational modeling and simulation, MC and STS requirements\.
99. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\.


99. Experience with NW weapon qualification\.
99. Demonstrated ability to understand and work in a diverse set of technologies\.
99. Previous working relationship with LANL, NNSA, and the NSC at Kansas City\.
99. Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal\.
99. Good presentation skills\.
99. Proven leader in a diverse engineering environment with excellent personal interaction skills\.
99. Proven ability to integrate, build, and work effectively across technical teams, interface with customers and suppliers to resolve issues, and conduct tradeoffs to identify system solutions\.
99. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple teams responsible for complex systems\.
99. Current and active DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Department Description:

The B61\-12 AUR System Engineering Department has systems engineering and design responsibilities for the Center Bomb Subassembly \(CBSA\) in the B61\-12, as well as oversight of production at KCNSC and Sandia External Production \(SEP\)\. Requirements and oversight activities are provided to multiple component organizations and teams through this department\. In addition the department also has a central role in maintaining the configuration and risk management for the entire B61\-12\. We are currently in Phase 6\.4, Production Engineering, working toward system qualification and production of the system\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
