Job Description

:

We are seeking an innovative R&D Systems Engineer to work within multi\-disciplinary teams to develop next\-generation remote sensing and targeting systems architectures and advanced optical and radio frequency \(RF\) communications and sensor concepts for the Remote Sensing and Verification \(RSV\) business area\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Develop conceptual system architectures and communications and sensor concepts that address critical national security challenges\.

• Refine, verify and validate conceptual designs and develop mission\-traceable requirements using model\-based systems engineering\.

• Work within multi\-disciplinary teams to develop physics\-based models that represent conceptual remote sensing, communications and targeting solutions within customer\-accredited modeling and assessment frameworks\.

• Develop presentations, simulations, white papers and proposals for internal and external customers

Required:

• Master’s degree in Physics or a Science or Engineering Discipline relevant to the development of remote sensing systems

• Demonstrated ability to develop and present ideas and results in oral and written form\.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment\.

Desired:

• Master’s or Ph\.D\. in Optical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics

• Experience or education in satellite systems engineering\.

• Experience or education in optical or RF satellite communications \(SATCOM\)\.

• Experience or education in satellite remote sensing systems or phenomenology\.

• Experience or education in satellite ground systems, data centers, or operations centers\.

• Experience modeling optical or RF systems and phenomenology using Matlab

• Experience designing complex systems using Simulink and Stateflow\.

• Current TS/SCI

Security Clearance:

Position requires a SCI security clearance\.

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.

This Limited Term Employee \(LTE\) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years\.
