Job Description

:

The Monitoring Systems and Technology Intern Center \(MSTIC\) program is seeking outstanding graduate students majoring in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Geophysics, Materials Science, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Seismology, Systems Engineering, or related fields of study\. Students will work in high\-caliber, cohesive teams to support nuclear proliferation detection, ensure the research and delivery of remote sensing and verification systems, and manufacture high\-consequence products\. The MSTIC program is actively seeking qualified students to join existing project teams in designing, developing, implementing, testing, and delivering advanced data processing and exploitation software for complex, real\-time analysis systems that support remote sensing\. Projects within the center include, but are not limited to, satellite systems engineering, high\-consequence missions, full\- system approaches to solving national security issues, and multi\-disciplinary sensing systems\.

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Graduate student at an accredited university
+ Enrolled full time in a science, engineering, or math program in the term immediately preceding the internship
+ Registration with the university's official co\-op office
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Desired:

+ GPA of at least 3\.5 out of 4\.0 for all degrees earned
+ Working knowledge and understanding of an engineering or science\-related field as listed in the required section
+ Time management and organizational skills

Department Description:

Our team provides research and development \(R&D\), systems engineering, project management, and payload development articles for the United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System \(Burst Detector Analysis payload\) and to a variety of DOE and government sponsors\. Once a payload is designed and delivered, it is typical for the organization to maintain cradle\-to\-grave involvement throughout the life of the payload\. The organization uses TRL 1 through 9 technologies to provide the sponsor\(s\) with a complete integrated systems solution on the deliverables\. This includes conducting R&D, transitioning R&D into the application, and fielding complete payloads\. The department also works closely with ground systems to ensure that data needs are met\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
