Job Description

:

We are seeking an electrical engineer to join our team to spearhead the development of electronic components and control hardware for one\-of\-a\-kind and advance prototype systems based on external and internal customer’s needs\. This individual will join a high performing technical team in the design, development, fabrication and delivery of novel integrated electronic prototype components and subsystems for national security and scientific applications\. These systems are typically used within the laboratory and often prototypes are tested on field deployments\.

Required:

Requires bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus entry level experience \(up to two years\); or master's degree in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

Desired:

+ Technical degree in Electrical Engineering plus 2\+ yrs of experience with electrical subsystem and design
+ Analog design \- board level voltage regulators, dc\-dc converters, amplifiers, comparators, digital to analog, analog to digital, dc and servo motor control, sensors, linear diode arrays
+ Digital design \- logic, microcontrollers \(Microchip, TI MSP\), serial and USB communications interfaces, digital I/O
+ Hands\-on experience designing, fabrication, testing, and deploying integrated electrical systems
+ Develop embedded hardware and software, GUI design, Labview, C\.\.\.
+ Ability to balance, prioritize multiple projects, and meet demanding deadlines
+ Strong communication and documentation skills
+ Ability to work in a team environment with research scientists, mechanical & software engineers, CAD designers, electrical & mechanical technicians\.
+ Self\-motivated with a strong drive to get the job done

Department Description:

The Advanced Systems Engineering and Deployment Department \(8625\) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying engineered solutions to fundamental national security challenges in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats\. The department is a multi\-disciplinary organization comprised primarily of mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineers engaging in science\-based engineering and component development to support a broad range of research and development activities\. The projects within 8625 often involve teaming with other groups with expertise in molecular biology, synthetic chemistry, radiation physics, and nuclear weapons to develop prototypes and impact how researchers study fundamental phenomena or turn basic scientific understanding into functional capabilities\. Principal sponsors for the efforts led by the department include the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, and Energy; and various other federal, state and local agencies\.
