Job Description

:

We are seeking a Electrical Engineer

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Design, or oversee design of, high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems for safe, reliable, and efficient operations that comply with code\.
+ Design, or oversee the design of, high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment, controls, components, systems, and products, including meters for overhead and underground distribution, and transmission line construction and maintenance\.
+ Plan for maintenance by modeling the system, conducting condition assessments, analyzing data, balancing loads, and ensuring reliability by identifying upgrade and lifecycle replacement options\.

Candidates applying on this requisition may be interviewed and/or hired into one of several organizations at Sandia National Laboratories\.

Required:

+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field such as Architectural or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution\.

Desired:

+ Electrical Engineering degree that focuses on power and power distribution \(low, medium and high voltage\)
+ Basic knowledge of Facilities/Commercial/Laboratory engineering in design, construction and contracting
+ Ability to obtain a PE license
+ Must have good communications skills and a history of working in a team environment
+ Basic knowledge of technical building or site infrastructure design and construction
+ Able to initiate effective internal customer relationships
+ Working knowledge and understanding in Facilities engineering, design, construction and contracting
+ Demonstrated ability to prioritize work in a dynamic environment
+ Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion
+ Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
+ Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to articulate the vision to key stakeholders
+ Experience with NNSA, DOE or other federal government requirements
+ Experience with current and emerging standards \(IBC,NEC, NFPA70E\)
+ Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products
+ Able to conduct research, investigate alternative solutions, and recommend solutions on problems affecting electrical systems
+ Experience with Arc Flash Hazard calculations and software, short circuit and load flow calculations, transmission system modeling using Easy Power or similar software

Provides construction services for line customers and engineering for Facilities Management & Operations Center\.
