Job Description

:

We are looking for a Electrical Engineer interested in the design; development, qualification, and evaluation of interconnect systems and related components for use on satellites, launch vehicles and other high reliability applications\. The successful candidate will report to the department manager or a Product Realization Team Lead\. Key areas of responsibility include:

• The electrical and mechanical design of interconnect systems and related components

• Consulting with specialists in disciplines other than their own specialty to optimize all aspects of the design\.

• Collaborating with customers to establish requirements, document tasks, and key deliverables\.

• Collaborating with outside vendors for the fabrication of new component designs\.

• Developing and managing comprehensive test plans, schedules, and budgets\.

• Specifying tests, overseeing test activities, and evaluating & archiving results\.

• Adherence to safety, process controls, and quality principles\.

Required:

+ Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics \(STEM\) discipline; or equivalent combination of STEM Bachelor’s and relevant experience\.
+ Able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance

Desired:

+ Experience in designing cables and other interconnect products
+ Knowledge of CAD 3D modeling tools \(Creo , SolidWorks, or similar\)
+ Electromechanical design experience that includes electrical, electromechanical or mechanical design practices, considerable know how in the application of engineering principles, equipment design and manufacturing methods
+ Proficient oral and written communication skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
+ Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
+ Experience in product design, development and evaluation

Department Description:

The Interconnects Department designs, develops tests and qualifies high voltage, RF, flat\-flex, multi\-wire, and fiber optic cable assemblies\.

The department further designs, fabricates, and deploys equipment and testers for our use on our products as such systems are not available through private industries\.

We use the Realize Product Subsystem \(RPSS\) to realize Mark Quality product that covers the complete product realization cycle of requirements, design, development, specification, qualification, procurement, delivery and stockpile support through our partners at the National Security Campus\.

We employ defect\-prevention strategies to gain an understanding of design margin during the development cycle\. The department’s capabilities include the ability to address multiple challenging requirements related to meeting high reliability numbers over extremely long life, radiation tolerance, nuclear safety requirements, and size & weight restrictions\.
