Job Overview

Assists in the design, implementation and monitoring of systems for protecting sensitive electronic data confidentiality, integrity and accountability through the following functions: managing the prevention, detection, containment and correction of security breaches with SLFCU networked information resources; ensuring systems are operated, maintained and disposed of in accordance with Credit Union security plans; assisting in security policy and strategy development and implementation; executing ITS compliance plans and conducting periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance; ensuring that system security requirements are addressed during all phases of the system life cycle; and assisting in the development and promotion of corporate Credit Union education and awareness regarding ITS security policies and programs.

Job Duties

* Conduct proactive security functions and direct reactive network IP defensive measures to ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of SLFCU networked information resources with the approval of the Network and Security Manager.
* Assist in the development of local security policy, strategies and plans to counter identified network security threats.
* Responsible for the security activity in deterring, detecting, containing and recovering from information system and network security intrusions.
* Provide input on the security design, administration, implementation, support and maintenance of all enterprise-wide network and server-based systems.
* Perform various duties providing information systems and technology support to ITS staff and other SLFCU employees.
* Ensure all network and server-based systems are designed in compliance with all applicable security policies.
* Assist with the updating of security policies to ensure they reflect current best practices.
* Assist in setting policy and procedures for systems management and security based on recognized business risk.
* Consult with other Credit Union business units or departments regarding their changing business and technical plans to ensure that security solutions are aligned with corporate security policies and strategies.
* Recommend, design, manage and monitor systems used to patch, defend against viruses and malware, and remediate identified issues from vulnerability scanning.
* Recommend, monitor and configure, or assist in configuring, firewall rules, web filtering, mail filtering and other security systems.
* Assist the Network and Security Manager and Administrators in creating response documents for internal and external audit requests.
* Serve as primary point of contact with vendors providing services such as firewall co-management, vulnerability scanning, mail filtering and other security-related services.
* Serve as back-up for Network and System Administrators and second level support for help desk personnel dealing with secure system imaging/re-imaging.
* Promote the service and sales culture by maintaining basic knowledge of products and services and referring members to the appropriate person/department.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Experience and Knowledge

* Minimum four years' information security experience with medium to large network(s).
* Strong understanding of modern system security concepts and computer/network security practices and applications.
* Experience with perimeter security, social engineering and other aspects of corporate security practices.
* Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN networking environments. Has prior experience with network security assessment tools and topologies.
* Possesses knowledge and experience with the principles, practices and methods of systems/network administration and maintenance, including configuration, operation of network systems, security, performance tuning and techniques for layout and design.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the following preferred:
* TCP/IP configuration, directory service protocols, routing, firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS systems
* Network software and hardware installations and upgrades
* Network architectures, network email technologies, topologies and protocols
* Internet/Intranet technologies and design concepts and techniques
* Security practices, firewall and router configurations
* Connectivity testing and network analysis and troubleshooting
* Systems and/or network analysis and design
* Financial institutions in general and/or operating system environment used at the Credit Union
* Windows Server and/or AIX OS
* Establishing and implementing server and workstation loads using industry best practices, including server and client software configurations (operating systems and software applications, including those determined to be relevant to the client standardized load)


* Basic knowledge of Credit Union products and services, features, and benefits.

Education

* Bachelor's or four-year college degree (in computer science, information systems, security engineering or related field).
* One or more current security certifications (i.e. CISSP, SCNP, GSEC, CISA/CISM, CCISO, etc.).
* One or more current Microsoft and/or network or systems administrator certifications preferred.
