Job DetailsSpring 2018 C-Op, Hardware EngineerDepartment and Role DescriptionThis is your chance to get hands on with the underlying hardware that supports Salesforce at its core. The Hardware Innovation & Test Lab @ Salesforce is looking for interns to join the team responsible for proving the resilience and abilities of all production hardware used at Salesforce. From servers and network equipment to thermal performance and power distribution we test it all.We are looking for students that feel comfortable ripping a server down to its components and building it back. Someone who wants to get hands on with the hardware that runs web scale companies around the world. Some attributes of successful candidates: - Eat, sleep, and breathe hardware. - Familiarity with X86 server architecture - Excited about finding the breaking points and limits of hardware. - Detail oriented - once you find that breaking point we need to understand how we did it. - Comfortable being hands on - you will be performing hands on testing with numerous pieces of hardwareResponsibilities: - Perform testing and proof of concept mockups of production hardware - Develop test plans to prove out performance and tease out bug on different hardware platforms - Contribute to the ongoing quality of hardware in SalesforceMinimum Qualifications: - Enrolled in sophomore year or higher at a college/university or any year at a graduate school - Working towards a BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related - Academic or professional/internship experience with board design or computer architecture - Understanding of Linux operating system and ability to install and setup a linux OS - Working knowledge of basic scripting languages (Perl, Python) - Ability to quickly learn new technologies - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Be a self-starter and possess strong sense of self-motivationRequired Qualifications: - Coursework in distributed systems concepts, circuit design, and Signal and System Theory - Strong competency in network concepts and hardwareAbout Futureforce University RecruitingSalesforce's global university recruiting program is dedicated to attracting, retaining and cultivating next generation talent.
