The SAIC Team is pursuing the opportunity to provide the full range of Systems Engineering and Technical Support (SETS) services in support of the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The tasks and/or work assignments will involve prioritizing, planning, and execution of financial investments for the various architecture, engineering, technical and programmatic activities and projects to be executed under various NOAA Satellite Programs and Satellite Ground Services. Support will be provided for Project Management; Technical Management Planning; Information Resource Management and Engineering; Systems Engineering; Special Studies; User Systems Liaison; Transition to Operations; and IT Security.

Accordingly, the SAIC Team is seeking talented professionals and incumbent personnel to staff this program in anticipation of contract award. Positions typically require a security clearance. Locations span the United States with support provided to multiple overseas locations, and include a range of qualifications. Tasks may be performed within the NOAA Headquarter complex located at Silver Spring, MD as well as satellite offices in and around the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. metro area. Program offices are located in Greenbelt, Suitland and Silver Spring, MD. Some personnel may be based at the European Organization for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) Headquarters facility in Darmstadt, Germany.
About NOAA NESDIS:
NESDIS is responsible for the procurement of new flight and ground systems and the modification of existing systems needed to operate the satellites, and to collect, process, distribute, and store satellite data for the nation's civilian environmental satellite (spacecraft and sensor) program. These systems include computers, communications, Radio Frequency (RF) equipment and the associated hardware and software, as well as build, maintain and upgrade the physical infrastructure (e.g., facilities) supporting the satellite missions. These Systems include those yet to be built and existing systems requiring maintenance, upgrades the physical infrastructure supporting the Systems. NESDIS is also responsible for performing similar work on cooperative missions with other United States government agencies, foreign governments, and organizations. NESDIS is responsible for the IT architecture and security of their computer systems processing environmental data, and supporting both operational and administrative functions of the Systems.
NOAA NESDIS SETS Objective:
SETS is intended to provide the analysis and system engineering activities to be performed in support of NESDIS. This effort will provide support technology service across NESDIS to include the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R Series (GOES-R) Program Office; the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Program Office; the Office of Systems Architecture and Advanced Planning (OSAAP); the Office of Satellite Ground Services (OSGS); and the Office of Projects, Planning and Analysis (OPPA).
