Job Description

Aviation Software/Systems Engineer (DVE) (Job Number:430339)

Description:



SAIC is seeking a mid-level Software or Systems Engineer to support the full lifecycle of systems development for military avionics (specifically helicopter) products including concept design, system architecture, definition and management of requirements, modeling and simulation, managing suppliers, managing cost and schedule, sub-system and aircraft integration, verification, and flight testing. The Software Systems Engineer would support Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) Brownout Rotorcraft Enhancement System (BORES) Program. In addition, supports the Program Office with activities such as fielding, training development, life-cycle support costs, and the budget process.

Responsibilities:

-
Participate in and provide government oversight of the definition, development and documentation of specifications, and qualification of integrated system solutions for military aircraft.

-
Participate in technical reviews of military commercial avionics systems.

-
Work with PM and suppliers management and technical leaders.

-
Provide technical support for avionics system safety and certification processes.

-
Conduct research, analysis, and trade studies as required providing informed recommendations to the PEO staff

-
Provide engineering support, within your specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction, quality initiatives, and standardizing acquisition procedures and supporting products to streamline acquisition and contracting activities.

Qualifications:


REQUIRED EDUCATION:


-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Aeronautical / Software Engineering or related field and 14+ years of experience. Experience (4+ years) may be used in lieu of degree.

Required Qualifications:

-
Must be effective working in a highly collaborative team environment to accomplish program objectives.

-
Strong verbal and writing skills essential.

-
Hands-on expertise in design, analysis, development and operation of aircraft systems and avionics sub- systems (helicopters preferred).

-
Technical experience in Avionics Systems or related product design and development.

-
Technical experience in requirements definition, architecture, integration, verification, and qualification.

-
Working knowledge of all aircraft and avionics systems/sub-systems assigned to PEO Aviation.

-
Working knowledge of Opens Systems Architectures and Approaches specifically MOSA.

-
Working knowledge of interface requirements, design and documentation (IRS/IDD/ICD creation and review in particular)

Clearance Requirement:

-
Active SECRET Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

-
Familiarity with Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) standards.

-
In-depth knowledge of the major systems within the PEO Aviation portfolio, which includes but are not limited to Apache Attack Helicopter, Utility Helicopters, and Cargo Helicopters.

In-depth knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approaches and Better Buying Power 3.0 initiatives.

-
In-depth knowledge of all acquisition systems assigned to PEO Aviation.

-
Familiarity with Military and/or FAA certification standards (MIL-STD-882E).

-
Familiarity with SysML/UML/AADL/DOORS.

-
Knowledge of Mil Standards (ARINC-653, ARINC-429, MIL-STD- 1553).

-
WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, VISIO, PROJECT, DOORS.

-
Masters or PhD. degree in Electrical / Aeronautical / Software Engineering or related field.
