Technical Manual Diagnostics Developer (Job Number:430200)


Job Description

Candidate will serve within the Technical Manual Team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of combat vehicles for the Assault Amphibian Vehicle Survivability Upgrade (AAV SU) and the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) programs. As a team member, the candidate will work in conjunction with and alongside Technical Writers, Engineers and other Logisticians to develop technical manuals through written and pictorial instructions. Technical manuals developed for these projects will include operator and maintainer level instructions however; and may also include other forms of publications.

The candidate's work will comply with DoD/Navy/USMC standards and will be reviewed by self, peers, and customers. The Diagnostics Developer's primary responsibility will be to ensure all content of publications assigned are technically accurate and safe for use and will ensure compliance with MIL-STD and MCO process as required by the Government.

The Diagnostics Developer will also be responsible for technical aspects in support of AAV SU ACV 1.1 programs, including: mechanical troubleshooting processes, electronic diagnostics, engineering model analysis for maintenance processes, development of operator/operator maintenance steps and processes, development of maintainer steps and processes, validation execution, and verification support to the government throughout the entire Technical Manual development cycle.

The Diagnostics Developer must have experience with OBD/OBDII diagnostics, SAE communication protocols such as SAE J1939 and message handling of diagnostic tools, understanding of hardware/software interactions, and nondestructive electronic fault insertion. The Diagnostics Developer will support and coordinate with logistics personnel conducting manpower analysis, task analysis and training development that are directly related to technical manual development. During the validation of tasks, the Diagnostics Developer may be required to perform tasks associated with the technical manual and therefore must be physically capable of lifting heavy objects and must be able to obtain/maintain a combat vehicle driver's license.

Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience or High school diploma or GED and extensive (10+ years) related experience in lieu of degree
- Professional knowledge of any combat vehicle specialty field.
- The Diagnostics Developer shall be able to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language, including technical language and terms associated with the operation and operator maintenance of combat vehicles.
- The Diagnostics Developer shall have two (2) or more years as an AAV or LAV Mechanic with an understanding of all tasks associated with technical manual development, and have two (2) or more years as an electronic diagnostics technician/Subject Matter Expert (SME).
