Job Description

Ground Element Systems Engineer (Job Number:430160)

Description:

The Ground Division requires an experienced engineer familiar with space systems ground element acquisitions and command and control architecture to provide direct support to the Ground Element Lead on a new program with expertise in Ground Systems Engineering. This position falls within the ground systems engineering division of the acquisition Systems Program Office (SPO) and would not be limited to support of this new program. The contract is a single contract that procures the flight vehicle(s), all associated ground control equipment, and post-launch operations support.

Job Duties

- Provide technical and program support to the Program Ground Element Lead responsible for the acquisition, test, integration and fielding of a satellite command and control ground system and processing system
- Provide technical and program support to the development, test and integration of ground processing system (hardware and software)
- Assist in development of ground element acquisition strategies and related documentation Perform technical evaluations of proposals to include assessments of Basis of Estimates (BOE's) and assessments of the proposed software development architecture and efforts
- Support to identification and validation of requirements
- Monitoring of formal Development Test and Evaluation (DT&E) activities
- Provide Systems Engineering support to Ground Element system to include interface definition, requirements development and flow-down, software and hardware design, participation in design and program reviews, Ground Station integration, test planning, deployment and operations
- Analyze performance, cost and schedule metrics - review for accuracy, reasonableness and achievability
- Attend SPO meetings as appropriate at the request of the Ground Element Lead and ground division Branch Chief
- Provide formal and informal feedback to the Ground Element Lead and ground division Branch Chief on all aspects of program status
- Other duties as specified by the Ground Element Lead and/or ground division Branch Chief

Qualifications:

Qualification:

- Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience
- Prior experience with Ground Element Systems acquisitions, command and control architecture, and flight operations of a major space system is desired.
- Candidate should also possess strong system engineering, interpersonal skills, and analytical problem solving skills.
