Mechanical Engineer - Vehicle Integration (Job Number:430170)

Job Description:

SAIC is seeking an experienced engineer who possesses the skills to conceive, model, document and present product design solutions and guide others on a technical team in capturing, understanding and implementing product design requirements.

Responsibilities include:
- Performs Systems Engineering activities, including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecture, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & op. performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA) . Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Identifying, managing, and solving problems associated with the mechanical components, weldments and vehicle structures OR internal and external armor, spall liner and blast resistant seating OR with amphibious tactical vehicle water mobility components including water propulsion systems, stability and seakeeping systems and buoyancy enhancements.
- Understanding the fundamentals of material science and vehicle engineering and application of those fundamentals to solve problems.
- Appyling existing knowledge to resolve design issues, interface control issues and integration issues.
- Creating and modifying fabrication, modification, assembly and installation drawings, schematics, vendor item control drawings, connection diagrams and bills of materials for complex equipment.
- Following company standard operating procedures and Quality System requirements to perform all aspects of the position.
- Planning, organizing and estimating required effort for responsible tasks.
- Contributing in a team environment to obtain common goals, providing technical leadership where applicable.
- Working independently to achieve technical and program requirements.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with 1+ years of experience.

Must have experience using Pro Engineer, Wildfire and or CREO CAD systems.

Desired:

Experience with applied design with a fundamental understanding of conventional material engineering welding and mechanics.

Experience with WindChill Product Data Management System or similar configuration management PDM
- Fundamental understanding of industry accepted design methods and practices, including design choices/tradeoffs, test data and requirement/specification changes.
- Possess general knowledge of vehicle systems.
- Ability to create, read and review mechanical drawings for proper dimensioning tolerances and accuracy and completeness.
