Position Description:

VSS Integration & Test (I&T) Lead The Vision Sensor Subsystem's CDR is expected in February, 2018. Afterwards, the subsystem will move into the flight hardware fabrication stage. VSS requires an I&T lead to manage the day-to-day build of each piece of VSS flight hardware. The role will include writing and executing flight assembly procedures and Work Order Authorization (WOA) forms. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring that each hardware Product Development Lead (PDL) has the appropriate parts, manpower support, documentation, and facilities available to support flight hardware builds. As flight I&T progresses, the candidate will be responsible for leading the environmental testing of each piece of VSSS flight hardware. This responsibility includes working with the hardware PDLs to ensure that documentation, hardware (including harnesses, EGSE, etc.) and facilities are available to support testing on the timeline dictated by the VSS Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Eventually, the candidate will support the installation and functional testing of all VSS flight hardware on to the Restore-L Servicing Payload.

Job Duties:

- These tests are expected to continue through the Mission Critical Design Review (M-CDR) and will serve to validate system-level requirements.
- Collectively, these tests are known as the Restore-L 6.X test campaign. There are several ongoing tests with numeric designations such as 6.4, 6.5, 6.7, etc., each with a unique objective.
- The Vision Sensor Subsystem is required to support each of these tests by suppling and operating prototypes and Engineering Development Units (EDUs) of our various pieces of hardware.
- The candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day needs of these 6.X tests.
- This includes delivery, setup, and operation of EDU-grade hardware that includes optical camera systems, LED lighting, mechanical pointing gimbals, and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). The candidate will require detailed subsystem knowledge on the appropriate way to configure each piece of hardware to ensure the test is conducted in a flight-like manner.
- Due to limited resources, the VSS hardware is regularly in high demand.
- As such, the candidate will be required to manage these hardware resources across the various 6.X test campaigns per management's direction.
- The candidate will be required to develop detailed knowledge on the operation and configuration of each piece of VSS hardware to ensure its correct operation.

Delineation of Duties:

- It is expected that the candidate will spend approximately 50% of their time working 6.X test campaigns and approximately 50% of their time addressing VSS I&T needs.

Qualifications:

Education:

- Minimum Four-Year STEM degree Years of Relevant Experience:
- Minimum Five Position Description: VSS 6.X Test Lead The Restore-L mission is currently executing a number of laboratory tests to refine the design of the spacecraft's Servicing Payload leading up to the Mission Preliminary Design Review (M-PDR).
- Position Requirements
- Experience with some aspects of systems support, to possibly include, systems integration, test, or engineering experience analyzing system requirements, developing test plans and procedures, and analyzing test results.
Other Desired Skills:

- Experience with general space flight operations and hardware handling procedures
- Experience with testing methodologies and test planning activities including vibration testing, thermal vacuum testing, electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing, and optical alignment.
- Experience with space flight optical sensor systems
