Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Analyst (Job Number:430029)


Job Description:

This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity with SAIC to support the United States' Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) new initiative with NASA. You will focus on providing expertise in the application of Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) theory and application to commercial oil and gas companies operating under the regulation of BSEE.

Your team will develop and utilize methodology to assess oil and gas hardware, software, drilling and production operations to quantify risk of designated operations, conditions or events related to oil and gas company activities. You will develop and document assessments/analyses in formal reports which may include fault/event trees and application of reliability/risk assessment tools. You will provide expert technical assessment of Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) products and processes.

Activities will include:
- Utilizing Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) expertise to develop assigned portions of the oil industry systems and processes to be integrated into the system and architecture level models
- Interface with the appropriate project and prime contractor work force to ensure the collection of failure and operation related data for relevant failure modes and corresponding subsystem success criteria
- Provide system modeling and data analysis expertise to the development of the model and reduction and application of probability data
- Prepare and review all PRA system modeling and analysis performed by BSEE and other oil industry partners

Education Requirements: BS/MS in Nuclear, Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred, or BS/MS in Physics or Mathematics. Position-related Masters degree may be substituted for 2 years experience.

Certification Requirements: None

Required Skills:
- 6 years applicable experience in the development and use of risk assessment methodologies to include probability/statistical/reliability risk models and analyses
- Strong probability/statistical background applicable to oil and gas industry engineering activities emphasizing fault tree analyses and event tree analysis
- Oil and Gas engineering and operations and/or Safety and Mission Assurance experience
- Experience in use of risk analysis software such as SAPHIRE or CAFTA
- Expertise using Microsoft Office tools (Excel) or other spreadsheet tools.
- Excellent communication skills

Desired Skills:
- Experience in the development and used of risk and fault management tools in the energy sector
- Expertise in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Power Point)
