Logistics Lead of IT Warehouse Operations - Washington, DC (Job Number:429924)


Job Description

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), on behalf of the DC Government Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) seeks a qualified contractor to lead a process improvement activity and lead IT warehouse operations.

Scope of Work

The Contractor shall be responsible for daily operations of the warehouse, including: warehouse setup, inventory management, receive inventory, stock shelves, organize/ track material and dispense material. All work will be done on DC government premise unless directed by DC Management. This position is physically demanding, including heavy lifting, extensive walking, standing and forklift operation.

- Supervise warehouse team and oversee daily operations; by managing, mentoring, and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance.
- Establishing procedures and recommend process improvement initiatives per industry best practices to more effectively receive, track, and disburse warehouse items
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
- Receive inventory by verifying bills of landing; identifying and reporting discrepancies
- Load, and unload shipments from trucks and other material conveyances
- Update and maintain the inventory records and database to ensure accuracy, perform periodic asset inventories / inspections, and prepare reports on inventory status
- Prepare shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems
- Using automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners and computer keyboards to load computerized inventory data and access inventory information
- Work is primarily performed in areas where there is exposure to dust, dirt and temperature changes
- Perform and coordinate general maintenance of machinery and tools used in the warehouse
- Operate an electric powered forklift an pallet jack
- Additional job duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's and 9 years' experience or High School diploma/GED and 13 years' experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum 8 years of experience working in a large volume warehouse, with at least 3 years in a warehouse supervisory role
- High school diploma/GED required
- US Citizen or have a valid visa
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Experience with asset management database
- Proven knowledge of warehouse policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
- Experience applying logistics management principles, practices, and methods (i.e., supply and materials management, etc.) to implement short-and long-term strategic and operational plans for DC Government agencies or programs preferred
- Experience providing advice and guidance to customers and management officials regarding logistics management policies and procedures
- Skill in the use of operating a personal computer and using various software applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desired Skills and Experience
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Experience with asset management using ServiceNow or Remedy Atrium
- Familiar with Workplace Safety and Environmental factors
- Forklift qualification
- General knowledge of the WASP mobile asset database & scanner a plus
- General knowledge of the following equipment; CISCO, Eltek, Avaya, Enersys, APC, Panduit, Newton, Exeltech, Ciena a plus
- Familiar with inventorying and tracking bulk fiber and construction related materials
- General knowledge of the procurement rules and regulations for the District of Columbia a plus Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certificate in Inventory Management a plus
