Software Systems Engineer (Job Number:429902)


Software Systems Engineer: This is a SETA position providing full- time software systems engineering support and monitoring of prime contractor execution of software builds and delivery in support of the program. The position requires an engineer having experience with working knowledge of real-time software engineering, embedded systems, computer engineering, computer networking, and digital communications engineering and design. Strong communication skills, including technical writing, are required.

Primary Tasks:

- Support development of and assessing the adequacy of software development plans
- Ensure software development processes are being followed
- Monitoring software development execution, identifying risks, opportunities and support development and assessment of mitigation plans
- Support development of test plans and monitor execution
- Requirements development, including allocation and verifiability analysis
- Technical writing (CONOPs, technical specifications, Interface Control Documents, Request for Change, etc.)
- Support project risk management and configuration management
- Engineering analysis and estimation, including review of verification reports
- Inter-process communications interface analysis and definition
- Inter-organization coordination
- Planning and conducting technical meetings
- Technical support program milestone reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, etc.)

Ancillary Tasks:

- Software acquisition technical support:
- Support anomaly identification and resolution issue tracking
- Engineering change progress/issues tracking
- Support selected peer review meetings
- Support software problem tracking/review boards
- Project planning and scheduling, including long-term program roadmaps


- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.


- Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: TS/SCI with Poly
- Clearance Level To Obtain: TS/SCI with Poly


- 5-10 years of cumulative engineering experience in:
- Software project management
- Embedded systems computer design/development
- Systems Engineering
- Requirements development and interface definition

- Strong technical writing skills
- Thorough understanding of the engineering process and systems life cycle
- Familiarity with computer engineering, electronics design, and FPGA technology
- Familiarity with Government acquisition processes Beneficial Experience
- Digital systems design and modeling
- Real-time embedded systems software engineering design
- FPGA circuit programming design
- Digital communications systems and network design
- Multithreaded software architectures for high- performance computing
- Project planning and scheduling using MS Project or equivalent

- Knowledge of AGILE environment
