The Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV1.1) Program, Marine Corps Operation within the Navy/Marine Corps Customer Group is currently seeking Vehicle Suspension/Steering/Braking/Driveline mechanical engineer. This individual will support the ACV program and report to the SSBD Team Lead. He/she will interface daily with the Land Mobility Team. The individual will also work with our team mate Singapore Technology Kinetics (STK).

SAIC is engaged in a challenging competition with another military vehicle manufacturer to build the world's most advanced armored wheeled amphibious vehicle. The manufacturing of the advanced test vehicles has occurred in Charleston, SC and SAIC is in the middle of an intense period of government testing of our proposed vehicles. Applicants must have significant abilities to focus on the mission in a fast moving team that is engineering and integrating our amphibious vehicles.

The SSBD Mechanical Engineer will primarily support the Government developmental testing as an on-site technical support engineer requiring travel to Yuma, AZ, Aberdeen, MD, and Vicksburg, MS. He/She may also support SAIC experimental tests and evaluate results. Additionally, the SSBD Mechanical Engineer may be asked to perform Systems Engineering activities including: root cause and corrective action analysis and engineering, validation and verification, systems integration, performance analysis, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA).

The incumbent may also be asked to provide specific, detailed information for trade studies, implementation, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet customer needs. The SSBD Mechanical Engineer may also assist in the evaluation of alternate suppliers and integration approaches for LRIP. He/She may be asked to research, design, develop, modify, and evaluate a variety of ground vehicle components in the SSBD area to include brakes, suspension, steering boxes, linkages, Central Tire Inflation Systems (CTIS) and other driveline and suspension components.

Individual will evaluate customer requirements and design vehicle systems compliant with requirements and industry standards. Develops specifications for selecting components and equipment. May also review vendors' abilities to support development.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:

The candidate:
- Must have experience in vehicle undercarriage components such as suspension, brakes, drivelines, and steering.
- Must have experience with undercarriage component/system integration in military or heavy wheeled vehicles.
- Must have the ability to interface with team members across 15 different time zones and accommodate work hours outside of a traditional schedule.
- The candidate must possess strong communication and analytical skills, including the ability to develop general concepts into an actionable plan, and have the ability to present these results to senior management and government customers.
- Must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field, and at least 9+ years related experience or Masters Degree and 7 years experience. At least 2 must be in Military or heavy vehicle design.
- Must be able to interface effectively with cross functional teams, multiple contractors and with the customer.
- Must be a US citizen and possess (preferred), or be able to obtain, a Secret security clearance.
- Must have the ability to operate without close supervision or immediate feedback.

DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience heavy vehicle design, integration and test.
- Vendor/Supplier management experience is a plus.
- Experience working in Department of Defense programs is a plus.
