Ground Segment Lead (Job Number:429424)


As a member of a SETA team based in Chantilly, VA he/she serves as the government's "right hand" in overseeing development and deliveries of ground systems and their transition to operations. Ground systems include cloud based systems, laboratory systems, ground terminals, etc. The Ground Segment Lead guides the efforts of seven highly talented staff members. As a SETA, he/she will closely interact with government and members of the SETA staff in planning and oversight for contractor delivered ground system capabilities. The Ground Segment Lead works with the government, other SETAs from other segments, and development contractor to proactively identify and resolve programmatic and engineering issues with a System Integration end-to-end focus. He/she ensures ground system efforts fully enable and align with operational activities, and delivered capabilities meet operational requirements. The Ground Segment Lead analyzes the workflow and business rhythms of the Ground Segment staff; and provide structure for efficient task management/closure, prioritization, risk management, and communications within the Ground Segment, Systems Engineering, and other segment.

Required Qualifications:

- Thrives in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment; undeterred by abstraction and ambiguity "Can do -- make it happen" attitude; anticipates and analyzes broad issues, frames the problem set, develops closure plan, prioritizes and takes action with little to no guidance or direction
- Practices proactive leadership that fosters trust, confidence, initiative, collaboration
- Proven track record of success managing technical personnel while providing staff support to the government
- Demonstrated success in transitioning programs from development to mission operations Polished, articulate communicator-written and verbal; model representative for the government and SETA staff at settings ranging from technical to executive forums
- Must currently possess a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other analytical field
- 15+ years of experience on large "system of systems" development programs, including significant experience in ground system engineering and systems integration
- Experience on national space programs with emphasis on ground system and mission control software and ground system operations
- Experience supporting the Intelligence Community
- Familiar with Cloud, Service Oriented Architecture technologies

Desired Qualifications:

- Master's Degree Engineering or related technical field
- Experience with ICD 503 certifications
- Experience with DOORS requirement management software
- Experience with Clear Quest and Clear Case software tools
