Payload RF Engineer (Job Number:429049)

Description:


SAIC is seeking a Payload RF Engineer to join our Chantilly, VA team.

Space and Launch Division
S&L provides technical and programmatic support to coordinate and execute acquisition, payload engineering, vehicle engineering, adjunct payload accommodation, and integration, test and launch functions for spacecraft and adjunct payloads. Payload Engineering requires a payload RF engineer with technical expertise in spacecraft payload RF design. The selected candidate will be an integral participant in payload RF trades, design, performance analysis and hardware development. Key areas of focus include RF design trades, performance predictions a nd/or evaluations, system impact evaluations, hardware assembly and test and RF subsystem integration. Candidate should be experienced in the design & integration of satellite payloads and knowledgeable of space system development and space vehicle development.

The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:

- Support the customer in the oversight of the design, integration and test of spacecraft payloads
- Provide expert advice and coordination concerning RF development o Assess feasibility of new RF insertions and RF fu nctionality en hancements
- Review and coordinate on changes to specifications, lCDs and system level requirements documentation pertaining to the functionality and accommodation of RF hardware onto the satellite bus
- Review RF manufacturing specifications for accuracy and ensure documentation is complete and accurate
- Review drawings, documents and procedures for RF design, manufacturing, integration, program planning and execution: provide comments to the contractor and/or government
- Track development issues, significant accomplishments and upcoming events and provide weekly status updates to the customer
- Develop RF unit models for performance evaluations and predictions
- Attend RF and payload level design reviews and program management reviews to assess RF design maturity, requirements compliance and to provide informed technical recommendations to the USG o ldentify and assess emerging risks; develop and evaluate proposed burn-down plans
- Review prime contractor readiness to proceed into RF manufacturing and test o Provide expert advice/analysis on interface considerations for new RF developments
- Coordinate with payload subsystem leads, branch chiefs and division chiefs both within S&L and outward to SE&I/AP in support of new payload and payload subsystem initiatives
- Provide support to launch and satellite on-orbit test as required by the customer
- Attend branch meetings as appropriate at the request of the customer to coordinate support activities Provide technical evaluation of payload efforts in contractor Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) o Attend contractor milestone reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, pretest, pre- ship and other meetings) to provide technically based recommendations regarding satisfaction of RF related review entrance and exit criteria Provide support to factory integration and test activities as required
- Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, function a I counterparts, and other payload and payload subsystem subject matter experts
- Advise and mentor USG Payload RF subsystem personnel regarding RF subsystem design elements

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Degree in engineering discipline with 14 years experience.
- Education and experience with spacecraft RF design; manufacture, and test
- Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and ' problem solving skills with a demonstrated abilityto be effective in a government/contractor team environment
- Experience in DOD/lC acquisition and program management processes
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated sustained superior performance
- Available to travel domestically

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

- Clearance Level Must Possess: TS/SCI with Poly
- Clearance Level Must be able to Obtain: TS/SCI with Poly
