Bio-Security Scientist (Job Number:429278)



SAIC is seeking a Biosafety and Biosecurity Program Officer to support DTRA's Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP). This position is part of a team that is responsible for the production and dissemination of government workshops and tabletop exercises relating to biosecurity disease detection, diagnosis, surveillance in the USPACOM AOR.


- Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience


- Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: Secret
- Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: Top Secret / SCI


- BS or equivalent + 8 yrs related experience, or MS + 5 yrs of professional experience in chemical/biological sciences or other related areas
- Expertise in sample transportation of toxic materials, data collecting and integration, biosafety and biosecurity legislation, biosurveillance and emergency operations centers.
- Past experience designing, and executing workshops and tabletop exercises for U.S. Government organizations, especially the design and delivery of creating complex scenarios that motivate discussions within the audiences.
- Strong national security experience, and understanding of the US interagency environment.
- Strong experience and understanding of USPACOM AOR, regional security partners, and regional WMD (Biological) threats.
- Demonstrated writing skills to contributing to reports, presentations, and tabletop exercises.
- US and foreign Interagency/Intergovernmental expertise.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport.


- Experience with infectious materials in BSL-3 and preferably in BSL-4 laboratory settings.
- Experience working with/for Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO).
- Experience working with international communities in handling disease surveillance and reporting capabilities.
- Human resource expertise in public and animal health.
- Containment and storage experience with select agents and toxins.
- Demonstrated experience conducting biosafety or biosecurity related training to laboratory personnel.
- Planning, managing, and executing all aspects of international events, individually and concurrently.
