Job Description:

There exists an immediate opening for a Software Systems Engineer to contribute to the success of enterprise business applications in varying stages of the software development life cycle. This position is for a person with a passion for software engineering and solving complex software problems. You will be given the opportunity to gain valuable practical experiences by participating on an enterprise software engineering team with top talent.

The software systems engineer duties will include:

Investigates designs, develops, tests, documents, and analyzes software systems and applications.

-
Develops new programs and subprograms, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software.

-
Prepares concepts and prototypes for information system software solutions or for specialized software domains and evaluates the cost-effectiveness of these concepts.

-
Implements software solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf or internally developed.

-
Evaluates interfaces between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system.

-
Applies software engineering principles, tools, and advanced techniques to develop and support applications, including software development methodologies, database design methodologies, programming languages, source code control for release management, and disaster recovery methodologies.

-
Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance and quality standards

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

Requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience (4 years)

-
Minimum of 5 years of experience engineering software applications using software development methodologies, database design, source code control, release management, and disaster recovery methodologies.

-
Experience developing solutions using SQL, Cold Fusion, and C#/.NET

-
Knowledge of software engineering practices and software development methodologies.

-
Ability to work with multiple hardware and operating systems, system architectures, and network infrastructures.

-
Overall knowledge of software development concepts, but may specialize in a specific software development discipline such as software testing, reporting, or data warehousing.

-
Knowledge and experience in testing methodologies, including the ability to troubleshoot and identify solutions for issues.

-
Knowledge or experience with applying user- centered design processes.

-
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and interact with diverse customers understanding the business domain.

-
Ability to develop innovative long-term solutions that are easy to use, integrate with other applications, and are straightforward to maintain.

-
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks and projects, often under strict deadlines.

-
Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

Possesses a passion for the quality of his/her professional work.

Clearance Requirement:

Must have a DOE Q clearance to start

Desired Qualifications:

-
A technical working knowledge of Corporate Training Learning Management Systems (TEDS) and Learning Content Management Systems; mobile development - HTML 5 or Bootstrap

-
Business knowledge of Corporate Training functions specifically course assignment, completion, billing, tracking, and reporting.

-
A technical working knowledge of other HRMS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, COTS, cloud solutions, custom software solutions).

-
Knowledge/Experience in the following: o COTS implementations using tools from PeopleSoft, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, etc.

-
Experience using/supporting other COTS (commercial-off-the- shelf) products

-
Iterative software development processes (e.g. Agile or SCRUM)

-
Configuration management practices and quality deployment processes in the creation and delivery of work products

-
Programming using modern day languages in a multi-tiered, web-based environment in two or more of the following: Microsoft suite of development tools (i.e. SharePoint, C#/.NET, SSRS, SSAS, Excel Services, etc.), Java/J2EE, JavaScript/AJAX, APEX, ColdFusion

Reporting and Data Warehousing experience

Project Management techniques

Business Intelligence domain and Data Analytics

Relational databases, advanced query techniques and data warehousing

ITIL - Directly related professional experience would be helpful

Experience in requirements and quality engineering
