GV Automotive Engineer - Sterling Heights, MI (Job Number:429076)

Description:



SAIC has a contingent job opportunity for a GV Automotive Engineer to support an ARMY customer in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The GV Automotive Engineer develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. Automotive tasks include, but are not limited to:

- Develop engineering specifications or cost estimates for automotive design concepts.
- Calibrate vehicle systems, including control algorithms or other software systems.
- Develop calibration methodologies, test methodologies, or tools.
- Build models for algorithm or control feature verification testing.
- Alter or modify designs to obtain specified functional or operational performance.
- Conduct or direct system-level automotive testing.
- Write, review, or maintain engineering documentation.
- Conduct automotive design reviews.
- Provide technical direction to other engineers or engineering support personnel.
- Perform failure, variation, or root cause analyses.
- Develop or integrate control feature requirements.
- Establish production or quality control standards.
- Prepare or present technical or project status reports.
- Develop or implement operating methods or procedures.
- Coordinate production activities with other functional units, such as procurement, maintenance, or quality control.
- Design or analyze automotive systems in areas such as power, brakes, transmissions, steering, calibration, safety, or diagnostics.
- Design control systems or algorithms for purposes such as automotive energy management, emissions management, or increased operational safety or performance.

Qualifications

:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering and nine (9) years or more of related experience; Master's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering and seven (7) years or more of related experience ; PhD in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering and four (4) years or more of related experience.

Required Skills:

- In-depth knowledge of ground combat vehicle systems engineering.
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge of the product life-cycle design, development, production, and sustainment of physical products.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work across functional boundaries and build a team are required.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and delegate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage interpersonal relations and conflicts
- Ability to use objectivity, creativity, and analytical ability to solve problems
