SAIC has an opening for a Lead Perimeter Security Specialist located in Washington, DC.

Job Description:

The Vanguard Program currently has an opening for a Lead Perimeter Security Specialist to support a Department of State (DoS) Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM) program.

This program provides transparent, interconnected systems and security supporting the DoS in successfully carrying out its U.S. foreign policy mission.

IRM provides enterprise architecture design, engineering, operations and maintenance support services for desktops, servers, networks, firewalls, and enterprise applications across the Department. Program is named "Vanguard" and is an IT consolidation consisting of the Department's servers, mainframes, network devices, network perimeter, anti-virus engineering, public key infrastructure (PKI)/biometrics/encryption, monitoring tools, telephony, mobile computing platform, virtual environment, and enclave design/security engineering.

This is a senior technical management position within the Vanguard Service Management Office (SMO) that will provide in depth day to day technical guidance and oversight to a team of system engineers and security specialists.

The well qualified candidate will apply his/her detailed technical expertise to provide guidance and oversight in the monitoring and management of the Enterprise security perimeter.

The candidate must be capable of providing technical direction and guidance to the Firewall Engineering and Operations personnel for the provision of Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for O&M and engineering support.

The candidate must be capable of evaluating system performance results, performing risk assessments, evaluating performance metrics, and managing and directing complex short term/high visibility projects. The position directly supports DoS on-site to provide perimeter security protection to over 80,000 customers globally.

Description of Duties:

- Provides management oversight and guidance to a team of technical security professionals for the operations and management of perimeter security appliances to include but not limited to Palo Alto firewalls, StoneSoft Next Generation Firewalls, A10 proxies, and Cisco Email Security Appliances
- Provides systems analysis and programming activities for DoS system and information security operations services.
- Work directly with the customer and the Security Management Team to prepare executable mid and short-range plans for appliance selection, systems maintenance, and production activities.
- Evaluates functionality, risk, and maintainability of perimeter security systems
- Identifies and remediates deficiencies in the provision of professional tier 2 and 3 O&M services relating to perimeter security.
- Reviews weekly and monthly performance metrics and develops customer reports and remediation plans as needed.
- Directs compilation of records and reports concerning operations and maintenance performance.
- Provides technical direction and guidance for the problem management process, including assessing and evaluating system anomalies.
- Supports the root cause analysis efforts to determine problems and develop remediation activities.
- Collaborates with Cross-Bureaus and Agencies to plan and implements network changes as it relates to security operations.
- Attends weekly teleconferences, onsite meetings, and participates in working groups, as related to constant changing security environment.

Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience:

- Bachelor degree in a computer science/computer engineering related discipline with 15+ years experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree may be considered.

Required Experience/Skills/Attributes:

- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of IT subject matter experts in planning, coordination, and executing complex high visibility tasks essential to the security and operation of an Enterprise
- IT network engineering support experience (Tier II, Tier III, network infrastructure implementation and maintenance) focusing on perimeter security.
- Direct experience in planning, implementing, and managing an enterprise perimeter security infrastructure.
- Experienced with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation.
- Current experience understanding the areas of system and infrastructure design, operations and firewall engineering.
- 4+ years of direct and detailed experience in integrating Palo Alto and StoneSoft NGFW firewalls into an enterprise network
- 4+ years of drafting logical and physical network and data flow diagrams
- Direct experience in configuring and maintaining one or more of the following perimeter security devices: Cisco IronPort Email Security Appliance (ESA), A10 devices.
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively, and excellent written and oral communications.

Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:

- ITIL ® Foundation certification

Certifications:

- CISM and CISSP certifications considered a strong plus
- Familiarity with DoS environment (data and voice networks, IT security systems, policies and procedures), Foreign Affairs Handbooks (FAHs), Foreign Affairs Manuals (FAMs)

Clearance Requirement:

- SECRET (Active) with the ability to be granted a TOP SECRET clearance.
