CAD/Design Engineer (Job Number:425212)



The CAD Designer shall work closely with Government project managers and engineers to create, revise, print, and maintain information technology and telecommunications systems AutoCAD drawings, models, work instructions, and designs from verbal directions, hand drawn sketches and existing hard copy drawings. The CAD Designer shall use AutoCAD to generate electronic files of facilities. The CAD Designer shall maintain and create CAD library and symbols as well as organize and maintain AutoCAD files.

- On-site survey and evaluation
- Work closely with IT engineers to capture and document all related testing, installation, configuration, optimization, operations, and IA-compliance procedures/methods/instructions
- Make recommendations for improving the design/content of documents needed to support engineering activities
- Identify document production timelines/milestones and incorporate/track all within the overall project schedule(s)
- Lead the CAD documentation development efforts, as needed

Directs the activities and operation of the design engineers, drafters, and/or computer-aided design staff. Selects and monitors vendor support for CAD engineers and technicians to ensure state-of-the-art applications and equipment by expansion of systems and linkage to automated test equipment. Oversees enhancement of software to company standards and practices, promotes expansion of applications for users. Manages engineers developing CAD systems for internal use. Monitors those who maintain the system and provides advice regarding problem areas and corrective action to be taken. Schedules systems usage and job flow. Works closely with the design engineers and technicians to ensure project are completed. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives. FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Demonstrates good judment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. IMPACT: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. LIASON: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.


a) Must possess a Secret clearance

b) Must possess three or more years of demonstrated CAD design experience on large engineering projects involving enterprise- level IT system design, testing, integration, and implementation

c) Must possess three or more years of demonstrated AutoCAD expertise developing IT engineering artifacts for similar enterprise- level projects

d) Must possess advanced interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively, self-awareness, and excellent written and oral communications.

e) Should possess an Bachelor's Degree or higher in IT, Engineering, Drafting, or related discipline; experience may be accepted in lieu of education

f) Should possess demonstrated experience with DoD Operations support within an ITIL Service Operations management framework, including use of Service Now or Remedy service management tools
