Nuclear Weapons Policy Instructor (Job Number:420430)



The Nuclear Weapons Policy Instructor will work with the DNWS Nuclear Weapons Branch in teaching the Nuclear Weapons core curriculum which includes the Technical Inspections, counter- proliferation surety, nuclear operations and the Nuclear Policy Course. They will deliver lectures to senior military and civilian audiences on a broad range of nuclear surety issues. Additionally they will provide classroom instruction on the history and development of US nuclear weapons, the management of the US nuclear stockpile, the evolution of the US Nuclear policy, and the theory of nuclear deterrence. They will provide tours of the DNWS' Nuclear Weapons Instructional Museum (NWIM) at the Secret//Restricted Data (S//RD) and Secret//Critical Nuclear Weapons Design information (S//CNWDI) level. They will also develop the technical briefings, information papers, and PowerPoint presentations for the branch courses. Develops, directs, plans and evaluates training programs. Monitors and evaluates training programs, assesses results, and implements enhancements as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Nuclear Weapons Policy Instructor must have either a BA/BS degree, with 8 plus years of related experience. DoD/Military experience with at least 3 years in a nuclear related field. The ideal candidate must have In-depth knowledge and a thorough understanding of nuclear policy, radiation detection, the theory of nuclear weapons design, nuclear materials production, radiological effects of nuclear weapons, blast and thermal effects of nuclear weapons, laws and treaties regarding nuclear weapons, nuclear proliferation, nuclear intelligence challenges, and the history and evolution of nuclear weapons. Additionally required are instructional experience and familiarity with technology-based training.

The ideal candidate must exercise a high level of training and development expertise and possess a robust instructional knowledge base to educate managerial level and multi-Service personnel. They must have a knowledge and demonstrated skill in the fundamentals of instructional design, needs assessments, design analysis, training, presentation, and principles of instruction. The ideal candidate must plan, develop, evaluate, revise, and conduct courses, and the ability to advise other instructors on nuclear weapons and instructional matters, along with the ability to conduct research in relevant areas and give SME advice to cadre. Experience in MS Office tools a must with experience in SharePoint a plus. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to brief senior military and civilian personnel.

US Citizenship and active Secret Clearance required.
