Manager Financial Accounting

Albertsons' Companies is working to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves. The Corporate Finance Department located in Boise, ID, has an opening for a Manager Financial Accounting.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Manager of Financial Accounting is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the financial accounting group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Review financial information for accuracy, compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and proper presentation and disclosure
* Oversees period, quarter and year-end close procedures for financial reporting
* Assist in analyzing and resolving complex accounting issues, including but not limited to, revenue recognition, pension accounting, equity-based compensation, acquisition accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
* Lead special projects interacting with senior management and private equity owners
* Research and provide accounting analysis to senior management and other users of financial information
* Assist in the preparation of timely, accurate preparation and presentation of financial reports used by management
* Assist in preparation of Form 10Q's and 10K, including the MD&A which will be used in both external SEC reporting and internal reporting for executive management and board of directors
* Build strong working relationships with internal and external teams including marketing, legal, sales, real estate and external service providers
* Train, motivate, lead and develop department staff

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Education Level:

* Four year college degree in Business Administration or Accounting required
* CPA license required
* Master's degree in accounting or relevant field preferred

Experience Level:

* 4 -- 6 years public accounting experience with a National firm or equivalent strongly preferred

Skills and Experiences:

* Excellent technical accounting skills including knowledge of rules, regulations and standards including understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
* Must be proficient in using advanced functionality of spreadsheet applications to perform complex financial analysis
* Strong analytical skills
* Excellent problem solver; capable of applying a logical set of steps often with incomplete information, to solve complex business problems
* Capable of managing numerous simultaneous projects, including following each through to completion.
* Must consistently demonstrate a positive and consistent attitude, even in the face of obstacles
* Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
* Must have good interpersonal skills and be a team player
* Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Less than 15%.
