Job Description

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) invites applications for a non-tenure track, calendar-year Teaching Instructor, beginning about January 1, 2020, to teach legal and/or literary translation. In addition to teaching, the position will serve as the Coordinator of Lives in Translation, including, but not limited to teaching undergraduate intern workshops on legal interpreting, serving as a liaison between interns and pro-bono attorneys in law clinics and NGOs, and matching student volunteers to translating/interpreting requests. Responsible for maintaining institutional partnerships and forging new relationships with people and institutions who have translation needs. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching through advancing and supporting initiatives that deepen pedagogical knowledge, sustain motivated learning in all students, and support RU-N's anchor institution mission and commitment to diversity and inclusion, building and sustaining a diverse community. Rutgers non-tenure track positions have competitive salary and benefits. Position will remain open until filled.
