Job Description:

Russell Investments' summer internship program is designed to prepare candidates for a full-time role in the investment management industry. The intern will have an opportunity to work with a variety of associates within the Equities team in the Investment Division.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

An intern will support the research and portfolio management teams with many aspects of investment management, portfolio implementation, portfolio analysis, investment process and reporting functions.

Duties include the following:

* Generating quarterly reports on stock portfolios that will be used by the Equity team to identify and understand sources of risk and return
* Producing ad-hoc information regarding stock portfolio characteristics, economic data, or individual securities on an as-needed basis
* Working with the investment team to build and improve overall investment process and investment outcomes
* Liaising with portfolio operations and various custodian banks on reconciliation issues and account set-up need
* Running and interpreting analytical software; preparing monthly and ad-hoc reports and analysis
* Running performance attribution, preparing pre/post trade analytics, transaction cost measurement
* Working with internal technology teams to improve and support the team's infrastructure and related systems
* Documenting and reflecting on the internship experience. We would like to maximize the value add of these internships both to our team and to our interns. Suggestions for improvement and efforts to set the stage for each subsequent intern are welcomed and appreciated

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

* Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related major finishing his/her sophomore or junior year of college in May/June 2019
* Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week during the summer
* Candidate should possess a team-oriented mindset and must be comfortable accepting assignments from a variety of people
* Must possess the flexibility and willingness to perform various ad-hoc assignments
* Detail-oriented with an eye for quality
* Willing to ask for help when needed
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Completion of an investments class or practical investing experience
* Programming language proficiency strongly preferred (such as python, c sharp, r, etc.)
* Intermediate Excel capabilities (Pivot Tables, VBA, statistical analysis) strongly preferred
* Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and ability to learn other software applications
