College of Science & Mathematics/School of Health Professions

Department of Biological Sciences

The College of Science & Mathematics and School of Health Professions at Rowan University invites applications for Lecturers, which are full-time, non-tenure track faculty teaching positions, to begin Fall 2018. We seek candidates who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate level. In addition to teaching responsibilities, successful candidates will be required to make meaningful and substantive service contributions to undergraduate and/or graduate programs, and to their department. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in professional development to stay current in their content area and in evidence-based instructional approaches.

Lecturers are 10 month positions, and successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with the option to teach overload and the possibility of teaching summer classes for additional compensation. While these are non-tenure track positions, the initial 2-year contract is renewable, with expectations for continuing renewal of two, three, four, and then five years per contract. In addition, the position has a promotion path to Senior Lecturer and Master Lecturer, and includes benefits.

The Department of Biological Sciences offers broadly based BS and BA degrees founded upon a four semester core course sequence in evolution, genetics, cell biology, and ecology. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to this introductory sequence as well as to upper-level courses in their area of expertise. A Master's degree or higher in the biological sciences, or closely related discipline, is required, although preference will be given to candidates with the doctoral degree. Evidence of strong prior teaching and student advising or mentoring experience are also required.
